I Prevail “Trauma”Label: FearlessGenre: Post-Hardcore, Electronic, Melodic MetalcoreRelease Date: March 29, 2019.Disclaimer.This is my 3rd time listening to this album. My opinions have mostly not changed from the first listen.Clean Vocals: 8.5Unclean Vocals: 8.5Instrumentation: 8Creativity: 9.5Originality: 8Production: 10Flow: 9Composition: 10Lasting Value: 10Tracklist:1.Bow DownI want to start off this album by saying that I used to despise this band for personal and musical reasons. On the first time of hearing this track, it has changed my feelings of them completely.
As an album intro, I don’t know how much better you can get. It has the heavy, the melodic, the breakdowns, the catchy choruses. It’s practically perfect in my book.10/102. ParanoidA very stark difference from track 1. More electronics, and a huge influence in musical style probably provided by producer Tyler Smith (from Dangerkids). Only thing is it’s a bit short of a track.9/103. Every Time You Leave (ft. Voz loquendo online gratis.
Delaney Jane)One of the only tracks where I’ve grown to like it since listening the first time. More of an alternative rock song, with no unclean vocals. The chorus is catchy enough that it’s stuck with me as a pretty decent song.8/104. Rise Above It (ft. Justin Stone)If I was told this was a Dangerkids song the first time I heard it I would totally believe it.
I’m not complaining about the influence from Tyler Smith here, believe me this song is so good, but the similarity is undeniably there.10/105. Breaking DownThis is the one track that keeps getting in my head, making me sing the chorus in my brain over and over (which is a good thing). Any song that can pull that off deserves my applause. This one is closer to track 2 in terms of style, but it’s way more melodic.10/106. DOAI can honestly say I’ve heard songs like this before, and the repeated lyrics during the chorus could have been done better. But in the context of it’s music style, it’s one of the better versions of this type of song.7/107. GasolineAs one of the heaviest tracks on the album, it’s interesting to see more Dangerkids influence here.

What I mean is that this song is mostly unclean vocals, yet it’s screamed chorus makes me want to sing along to it.10/108. HurricaneThis song has one of the best chorus’ on the album. It’s extremely catchy, and makes me want to follow along with the lyrics. Composition on this track is very superb.10/109. Let Me Be SadOne of the more softer tracks on the album, and with Tyler Smith’s influence, this could easily go on a Dangerkids album.9/1010.

LowThis song has some country and hard rock influences in the chorus, which makes it sound poppier than it looks. It also makes it sound like other songs out there. I’m okay with this 1 time style choice, but I probably wouldn’t want more tracks like this.8/1011. Goodbye (Interlude)As this has vocals, for both vocalists at this, this track gets rated. It’s purely R&B, explaining why this is an interlude and not a standard track.

It’s not bad, but it does feel a bit unnecessary, even breaking the flow of the album.6/1012. DeadweightThis song feels like it’s on wheels, sounding like a very fast moving track. If a very nice sports car had it’s own theme song, this could be one of them. If you go racing, listen to this song before or during the match.10/1013. I Don’t Belong HereThe softest song on the record, which is understandable being the last track, but right after coming from an interlude and one of the better songs on the album it seems like it’s in a weird spot on the album. Maybe if this track and track 12 were switched it would feel less out of place.6/10Tracks Kept: 11 out of 13Final Score: 88/100% Grade: AVerdict: From their 1st album to this 2nd album, it went 0 to 100 real quick.
Put your eyes seriously on this band now.
