Usually the firmware that may need updating would be on your scsi controller. You may need to look to Adaptec for that. If your scsi controller is built on your mainboard, check out the manufacturer's website.As far as your hard drive is concerned, I am not familiar if drive manufacturers update firmware on their drives. I've never seen a firmware update on any of my conventional SATA or IDE harddrives.If you would like to see you hard drive properties in Windows XP or Vista, go to your control panel, device manager, then to disk drives.

Or, you could go to my computer right click on the hard drive, go to hardware, and select properties, go to details and then to hardware id, which should show you your hard drive's model number, and possibly even the firmware version.
